Sounds of 2023

The show includes highlights from concerts, collaborations and album releases. Another year of kaleidoscopic music from around the world is celebrated, with Gaika and Lucy Liyou, Eloine and The Furrow Collective.

Verity Sharp presents a roundup of the best favorite adventure sounds of 2023. With contributions from artists such as Gaika and Lucy Liyou, as well as listeners and the production team, she will trace the musical steps of the last twelve months to present standout moments from concerts, collaboration sessions and album releases.

From a collection of recently discovered early-century flamenco recordings to the haunting ballads of Lonnie Holley's experimental music and visual art such as "Oh Me Oh My", it celebrates another year of listening to kaleidoscopic music from around the world. Holley also curated a special Late Junction mixtape this year.

The show also features improvised sketches by Eloine, using invented instruments from Brazil and India, as well as a folk song inspired by moonlight from The Furrow Collective's new album "We Know By The Moon."
